Rose & Rex was started by former teacher, Allison Klein. Allison believes that play is the single most important tool young children have to develop their social, emotional, physical and cognitive skills. Rose & Rex offers in-person classes and workshops in topics like developmental play and finding your family zen through mindfulness at all of their pop up locations (Manhattan, Charleston, San Francisco and Minneapolis). Keep an eye out this summer because they are launching a really exciting product with playAGAIN that celebrates repurposed play with recycled materials.

Rose and Rex has been a Candylab retailer for over 2 years! Before starting Rose and Rex, the founder, Allison Klein, was a teacher and taught in a play-based preschool. While teaching, Allison noticed that many people view play and learning as opposite concepts, rather than deeply connected complements. In reality, Allison has learned that play is the single most important tool young children have to develop their social, emotional, physical and cognitive skills.

Rose and Rex works with Play It Forward which is the charitable component of Rose and Rex that donates to their partner organization Second Chance Toys (SCT). SCT is a nonprofit that rescues, refurbishes, and donates plastic toys to children in need. By collecting toys made out of non-biodegradable plastic that would typically end up in landfills, SCT helps protect the planet and promote children’s ability to play. Every toy they sell allows them to donate, and Rose and Rex have worked with SCT to give tens of thousands of toys to children in need.
